Which AI made this video? How to make realistic AI videos
Updated · Prices change often; confirm on each tool's site.
Most realistic AI videos you see right now come from Google's Veo 3.1 (in Google Flow), Kling AI or Runway, finished in a normal editor. Veo is widely rated best for photoreal shots with built-in sound and lip-synced dialogue, Kling for believable body motion and longer single clips, and Runway for precise camera control and AI editing. To find out which AI made a specific video, check the caption, watermark and the creator's comments first.
Saw a clip that looked real and wondered which AI made it? Most realistic AI video today comes from a handful of generators, plus a lot of careful prompting and editing.

Our top 3 picks
Google Flow
Google's AI film studio, with Veo 3.1 and Gemini Omni video models. Veo makes 4–8 second clips with sound and dialogue, and can start from your own first and last frames or reference images. Included with Google AI plans (Plus from $4.99/mo, Pro $19.99/mo).
Kling AI
Realistic people and natural motion, with longer single clips than Veo and image-to-video for keeping a character consistent. Free plan; paid from ~$10/mo.
Runway
Fine control over camera and motion, plus AI editing tools to fix and restyle shots, not just generate them. Free plan; from $12/mo.
How to do it
- Start from a realistic still image (a photo you're allowed to use, or a generated one). Image-to-video usually looks more real than text alone.
- Describe one simple action per shot, plus camera, lens and lighting words (e.g. 'handheld, 35mm, overcast daylight').
- Generate 3–4 takes of each shot in Veo (Google Flow) or Kling AI and keep the most natural one. Hands, on-screen text and crowds are where AI still slips.
- Keep clips short and cut between them. Veo generates its own sound; for other tools add a voice (e.g. ElevenLabs) and ambient audio.
- Edit, color-match and caption in CapCut, and use the platform's 'AI-generated' label when you post.
FAQ
Which AI tool made this video?
You usually can't tell for certain from the video alone. Check the caption, hashtags and comments (creators often name Veo, Kling, Runway or CapCut), look for a watermark in a corner, and look for a platform 'AI-generated' label. For videos made with Google's AI, you can upload the clip to the Gemini app and ask whether it was made with Google AI; it checks for Google's invisible SynthID watermark. A 'no' doesn't rule out other AI tools.
Can I still make videos with Sora?
No. OpenAI says Sora is discontinued. If you see an older clip with a Sora watermark, that's where it came from; for new projects, use Veo, Kling AI or Runway.
Can I make realistic AI videos for free?
You can test for free: Kling AI and Runway have free plans with limited credits. Veo in Google Flow comes with Google AI plans (from $4.99/mo for Plus). Check each tool's current plan before a big project.
How do I make AI people look real?
Start from a realistic photo, keep each shot short, give one simple action, and avoid close-ups of hands and text. For a presenter talking straight to camera, an avatar tool such as Synthesia or HeyGen is more reliable than a general video generator; see our avatar videos guide.
Can I put a real person in an AI video?
Only with their permission. Using someone's face or voice without consent can break platform rules and laws, and most tools forbid it in their terms.
